Puer Tea is a fermented tea, named after Pu'er county in Yunnan, China. It is an unusual tea, because unlike other teas which are consumed shortly after production, it can be over 50 years old and is usually aged at least 1-4 years.
When brewed Puer Tea has a dark reddish colour with a strong, full and earthy taste, which leads to Puer Tea having the unique trait among tea varieties.
Puer Tea is believed that it promotes healthy weight loss by boosting the metabolism and aiding the body to digest fatty foods.
It is said that Victoria Beckham buys Puerh tea in Madrid and drinks it when she wants to drop a few pounds or maintain her current slim build. Joss Stone and Jerry Hall are said to be among the fans of Puer Tea too. According to a spokesman at the store quoted by Now magazine, they advised Victoria "to drink Puerh three times a day for three months and watch the weight drop off. After three months, it is possible to maintain the desired weight by drinking one cup per way”.
